Panels are quick to put up, but when one blows down the whole panel has to be replaced. Closeboard is built on site from posts, rails and boards. It stands up better to strong wind than lap panels, it's built to your exact run length, and a broken board can be swapped on its own.

How much does a 6ft closeboard fence cost compared with panels?
With our shop prices, the materials for a 6ft closeboard fence (boards, 4x4 posts, three rails and post mix) come to roughly £33 to £37 a metre. The planner gives you the exact total for your length.
How many posts do I need?
One post every 1.8m, plus one at the end. A 12m run takes 8 posts and 16 bags of post mix.
Which fence is best for privacy?
A 6ft closeboard fence with the boards butted together. Our planner has a no-gaps option.
Do you deliver fencing in Newcastle?
Yes. Delivered to your address from the next working day, Monday to Friday, across Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Tyneside and Northumberland. County Durham is collection only for supplies, but we do fit fences there.
