New-build gardens · privacy fences · side gates · Newcastle & the North East
Moved into a new build? The fences that come with new homes are often low between gardens, or put up quickly. We fence new-build gardens across Newcastle and the North East: taller fences for privacy, side gates, and fixing fences that have started to lean.
Common new-build fence jobs
- More privacy: raising a low dividing fence to a full 6ft closeboard fence
- Leaning posts: resetting or replacing posts that weren't set deep enough
- Side gates: a lockable gate between the house and the fence
- Gravel boards: fitted along the bottom so boards stay off the wet soil
Before you build: check the rules
- In England, a garden fence can usually be up to 2m high without planning permission, or 1m next to a road used by vehicles.
- Many new-build estates have open-plan front gardens or rules in the deeds about fences. Check yours before you build.
- If the fence is shared, agree it with your neighbour first.
