Why choose composite decking?

  • No yearly staining or treating, just an occasional wash
  • Won't splinter, so it's kinder on bare feet and paws
  • Keeps its colour far longer than timber
  • Doesn't rot like untreated timber

Colours

Most people go for grey, brown or charcoal. Lighter colours stay cooler in full sun; darker boards hide marks better. Pick your colour in the form, or choose "Not sure" and we'll talk you through the options.

What's included when we build your deck

  • Clearing and levelling the area, with a weed membrane underneath
  • A strong, level frame on posts or footings
  • Composite boards cut and fixed, with fascia boards to finish the edges if you want them
  • Steps, handrails and lighting if you want them
  • Taking away the waste and any old decking

Composite decking prices

Composite costs more to buy than timber, but there's no yearly treating, so it costs less to keep looking good. Every deck is priced on its own: the size, the height, what's there now and the extras you choose. Answer the questions in the form and we'll send you one price for the whole build.

Composite decking questions

How much does composite decking cost in Newcastle?
It depends on the size, the height, the ground, the boards and any extras. Fill in the form for a price for your garden.

Is composite decking slippery?
Grooved and textured boards give good grip, but like any deck it can be slippery when it's icy or covered in wet leaves. Keep it swept, especially in winter.

How long does composite decking last?
Composite boards don't rot or splinter, and many come with long manufacturer guarantees, often 10 years or more.

Does composite decking get hot?
Dark boards can get warm in strong sun. Lighter greys and browns stay cooler.

Can you lay composite decking on a slope?
Yes, on a raised, level frame. Pick "Sloping ground" in the form.

Do I need planning permission?
In England, decking more than 30cm above the ground usually needs planning permission. Ground-level decks usually don't. If you're unsure, check with your local council.

Do you sell composite boards on their own?
Not at the moment. We price composite decking as a full build.
